Three men arrested over FB postings, inciting people to hold bicycle rally

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested three men for posting offensive remarks and urging people to hold a bicycle rally following the tragic accident involving a group of teenage cyclists along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.

The suspects aged between 61 and 65 years from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak were arrested for posting offensive remarks on Facebook relating to the incident that took the lives of eight teenage cyclists on Feb 18.

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said a 64-year-old man was arrested in Villa Taman Tasik, Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 26 at around 2am.

“Two men were arrested in Taman Sri Gombak, Batu Caves, Selangor, and Ipoh, Perak, on Feb 25 at around 11pm and 8.28am, respectively.

“The two men from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were arrested for posting offensive remarks over the tragic incident that killed eight teenagers,” he said.

He added that the other man from Perak was detained for allegedly inciting people to join the rally, which was scheduled for Saturday (Feb 25) morning.-thestar
