Chong Wei hungry for more after All-England win

SEPANG: Datuk Lee Chong Wei has returned from the All-England badminton championships with renewed fire in his belly.

The 34-year-old won his fourth All-England title on Sunday despite sustaining a knee injury last month.

The three-time Olympic silver medallist, who arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Tuesday morning, however believes he is slowly getting back to his best.

And Lee is already looking ahead as he plots to win the Malaysian Open for a record 12th time when the competition starts in Kuching from April 4-9.

“I’m probably not at 100% yet but I’m slowly getting there,” said Lee who was greeted by his wife, Wong Mew Choo and sons – Kingston and Terrance – upon his arrival at KLIA.

“My focus this year is still the major tournaments – the Sudirman Cup and the World Championships.

“But winning the All-England, which is one of my favourite tournaments has gone my fire burning again and I’m hoping to go on and win the Malaysian Open for a 12th time.”

For now, Lee who was down with fever during his flight back, will first recover and return to training to prepare for his next tournament – the India Open in New Delhi from March 28-April 2.-thestar
