KOTA KINABALU: A dentist in the east coast Tawau district has been detained after five secondary schoolgirls told police they had been molested while undergoing dental check-ups.

Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Fadil Marsus said the 26-year-old man was picked up at the airport there on Friday.

He said the dentist had been remanded until Monday under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault on person with the intent of outraging her modesty.

The students of a secondary school at Jalan Kg Jawa here lodged reports at Tawau police station.

They claimed the incidents happened when they went to the school clinic for dental checks.-thestar
