IPOH: She was a divorced mother of four who had just got engaged last Thursday, but tragedy struck when she died early Monday.

Hamidah Abdul Rahman (pic), a 53-year-old market trader, was found dead with wounds on her body at her home in Taman Dato Lew Yap Sip, Ampang.

The body was discovered by her youngest daughter Noor Shairah Hussin, 17, who was getting ready for school.

“Usually my mom would be up and ready for work by 5am, but I realised that it was 5.40am already and she was still home.

“I called to her and when she didn’t answer, I went into her room and turned on the light.

“That’s when I saw blood all over the bed. She was lying on her stomach and I saw a wound on her back,” she told reporters at the scene.

Noor Shairah added that she saw there were burn marks on the dressing table chair and the curtain. She also could not find her mother’s handbag.

She said she last saw Hamidah at around 6.30pm on Sunday, when they had dinner together.

“She then left to meet a friend at around 10.30pm, and I heard her come back at 12.30am,” she said.

When contacted, Ipoh OCPD Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong confirmed the incident.

“The postmortem is still in progress, and investigations are ongoing,” he said, declining to comment further.

It is learned that the victim Hamidah had just got engaged last Thursday and was to be married in May to Abdul Azhar Hussein, 55, a police corporal.-thestar
