KUALA LUMPUR: Inefficient and rude cabbies and stinky cabs are among the top complaints from passengers.

Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Dr Syed Hamid Albar urged cabbies to improve and provide better service to customers.

He said competition in the industry has increased with the extension of the LRT and MRT lines, as well as the rise of e-hailing services such as Uber and Grab Car.

“We must change and give the best services,” he told hundreds of cabbies at an event here Friday.

The event saw the issuing of individual taxi licences to 300 cabbies under the Taxi Industry Transformation Programme to improve the welfare of cabbies and create a more level-playing field in the industry.-thestar
