SHAH ALAM: A man, suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, was injured after his car ploughed into a barrier on KM32.4 of the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) here.

Though his vehicle was wrecked in the accident, he sustained only minor injuries.

A team of 11 firefighters was deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at about 9.20pm Thursday.

Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department Chief Azmel Kamarudin said the vehicle veered out of control before ploughing into the barrier and hitting two other cars travelling nearby.

“Two other cars were also damaged in the collision, but their occupants were unharmed.

“The man was travelling from Subang to Shah Alam when the accident happened. He had no passengers in his car.

“He may have been driving under the influence of alcohol,” Azmel said when contacted.

The man was sent to Hospital Shah Alam for treatment.-thestar
