Cops Closing In On Begging Syndicate That Exploits Kids

SHAH ALAM: Police are hot on the trail of the begging syndicate that exploits children.

On April 6, 19 youths who were exploited as beggars by the syndicate were rescued in a late-night raid at an apartment in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

“We have identified almost all of those involved in that organisation (syndicate),” Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat (pic) told a press conference at IPK Selangor Thursday.

He added that investigations have been intensified “so all those responsible will face the law.”

SAC Fadzil revealed that family members of the victims have also been identified.

“We are in the process of collecting statements,” he added.

SAC Fadzil also said that police have applied for a remand extension for the four suspects arrested during the raid.-thestar
