SEREMBAN: The Government will build five new camps and upgrade 10 existing ones to further modernise the armed forces and enhance national security.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (pic) said the new camps would be built in Johor, Pahang, Perak and Sabah.

“The 10 camps that would be upgraded are located in Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Sabah,” he said.

Hishammuddin was speaking to reporters after accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his visit to the Sendayan Air Force base here on Thursday.

The sprawling base, which will be the air force’s largest training centre, is under construction and is expected to be operational early 2018.
