IGP: Missing activist Peter Chong spotted in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: The former city councillor who was reportedly missing since last week was spotted crossing the border into Thailand, said Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic).

The Inspector-General of Police confirmed that police tracked former Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Peter Chong, who was reportedly missing since last week, crossing the border intoThailand at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint.

“We obtained a picture of him crossing the border on a bus,” Khalid told reporters after the Bukit Aman monthly assembly here.

Khalid said that Chong was seen crossing the border into Thailand at about 6.30am on last Friday (April 7).

“He is in Thailand. We are not sure of his intentions going there but I want to warn those trying confuse people that as though he was kidnapped,” he said, adding that police were working with its Thai counterparts to track him in Thailand.

Khalid said there was also no record of him coming back into Malaysia from Thailand.

He also advised Chong to contact his family members to inform them of his well-being.

Chong, who served as a personal assistant to Subang MP R. Sivarasa for a few years until 2015, has been reportedly missing for several days since last week.
