MIRI: An airline passenger who was about to fly from Miri to Marudi was arrested for carrying a knuckle-duster.
The 36-year-old technician was arrested by Miri airport auxilliary police as he was about to board a Malaysia Airlines’ rural air service flight at 11.10am Tuesday.
Miri OCPD Asst Comm Khoo Leng Huat confirmed the arrest.
“The airport police detained him after his bag was screened and a knuckle-duster was found inside it.
“It is a serious offence to carry such a weapon.
“The maximum jail term is five years if convicted,” he said.
The technician is being detained at the Miri police lock-up while police probe his motive for carrying the weapon.-Thestar
