MIRI: A woman and her son suffered burns on their arms in a fire which destroyed their two-storey house at Jalan Mulia 4 Tudan last night.

Miri Fire and Rescue chief Law Poh Kiong identified the victims in the fire which broke out at 9.30pm as house owner Sim Hua seng, 36, and his mother, Wong Suik Lang, 63.

Their injuries were not serious, he said, adding that the two family members sustained the injuries while trying to put out the fire and in their attempt to retrieve their personal documents.

Law said the cause of the fire was being investigated, but believed it started on the second floor of the building.–BERNAMA
