Police deny no action taken against Puchong dog abuser

SERDANG: Police have refuted a report that action will not be taken against a man seen in a viral video attacking a dog after it broke free of its leash and startled him in Bandar Kinrara Puchong.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said investigations are continuing and that police have interviewed the suspect.

“We interviewed the alleged abuser on Thursday night before a police report was lodged on the incident.

“We are also working with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) on the case,” ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin told The Star.

A local daily had reported on its website Friday that there would be no action taken against the man.

ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin gave the assurance that the case would be investigated from all angles.

“We are talking with the DVS and all other parties before we decide on our next course of action,” he added.

The April 2 viral video footage shows the suspect, said to be a Singaporean, falling from his bicycle after being startled by a dog tied up at the guardhouse to the housing estate.

Enraged, he catches the dog by its scruff and bashes the animal.

Halfway through the video, the man even uses a motorcycle helmet to pummel the defenceless dog.

The man also shoves a woman security guard who tries to defuse the situation.-thestar
