PUTRAJAYA: PKR’s Rafizi Ramli has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) alleging that former PAS deputy president Datuk Dr Nasharudin Mat Isa received funds linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Speaking to the media gathered at the MACC headquarters here Friday, the Pandan MP said he intended for the commission to once again investigate SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1MDB subsidiary.
“This statutory declaration that I will hand over to the MACC today is with the sole intention to reopen the investigation into SRC International, especially when the Attorney-General this week has confirmed that the investigation on that particular brief is ongoing,” he said Friday.
He also asked Nasharudin to resign from the MACC Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel as he said it constituted a conflict of interest.
Rafizi said that anyone who was unhappy with his “exposé” and focus in reopening investigations on SRC International could lodge a police report against him.
“If you’re not happy with it, this is your chance to put me behind bars,” he said.
On Thursday, Rafizi claimed in a statutory declaration that Nasharudin received funds from SRC International.
He claimed to have received this information from an unnamed former senior MACC officer who had led the 1MDB investigation and has since retired.
PAS has since distanced itself from Nasharudin following Rafizi’s announcement, saying that Nasharudin has not held any post in the party since his membership in the Syura Council was terminated in 2013.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan had said that PAS was not privy to any information on Rafizi’s allegation nor has it received any funds from him since he left the party in 2013.
Nasharudin is currently chief executive officer of the Global Movement of Moderates. He was Yan MP from 1999 to 2004 and Bachok MP from 2008 to 2013. Between 2005 and 2011, he was PAS deputy president.
In 2013, he was dropped from the Syura Council for allegedly going against several council decisions.-thestar
