KOTA TINGGI: A 24-year-old resort worker has pleaded guilty in a magistrate’s court here to possessing 29 pictures and 240 videos related to the Islamic State (IS) terror group on his mobile phone.

Mohd Firdaus Saibi, who was clad in a black T-shirt, nodded when the charge sheet was read to him before magistrate Mazana Sinin on Monday.

According to the facts of the case, the accused committed the offence at a resort in Kampung Sedili Kechil here at around 4.20pm on March 21.

He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of not more than seven years or a fine.

Mazana set May 21 for mention while awaiting a full report on the case. She also advised the accused to hire a lawyer.

Mohd Firdaus was not represented while DPP Suhaila Shafi’uddin prosecuted.-thestar
