MIRI: Two brothers were burnt to death inside their room when fire razed their house in the wee hours of Friday.

The fire happened at a double-storey house in Kampung Melusok in Lawas district near the Sarawak-Sabah border.

According to the initial report received by the Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters from Lawas town rushed to the scene located 2km from the town after receiving a distress call just before 2am.

The fire was completely doused at 4am.

When firefighters entered the burnt site to search the area, they found two charred bodies in two different rooms.

Initial probe showed that the remains were that of two middle-aged men.

The duo are believed to be brothers, based on information gathered by the fire teams at the site.-thestar
