Woman Trapped Under Double-Decker Bus In Accident

SINGAPORE: A woman was trapped under a bus and two others were injured after a double-decker SBS Transit bus crashed into a pedestrian walkway in Bedok on Thursday, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

The SCDF was alerted to the incident outside Bedok Residences at Bedok North Drive at 1.32pm.

According to what The Straits Times saw at the scene at around 2.20pm, the bus had crashed into a signboard and a traffic light was damaged. Parts of the front bumper of the bus appeared to have fallen off from the impact.

The road was cordoned off and traffic was not allowed to pass.

An SCDF spokesman said the woman who was trapped had to be rescued by SCDF officers using lifting equipment.

All three women, who are believed to be pedestrians, were taken to Changi General Hospital.

At least 20 passers-by from the nearby coffee shops had gathered outside the police cordon to watch the commotion.

The Straits Times has contacted the police and SBS Transit for more information reported by The Straits Times/Asia News Network.
