Tourism Activities In Bali As Usual After Mount Agung Volcanic Eruption

JAKARTA:Tourism activities in Bali, the famed resort island, has reportedly resumed as usual, despite volcanic eruptions at Mount Agung on Monday.

“The incident has not affected the tourism of this island. We get around 15,000 tourists per day,” said Head of Bali’s Tourism Office, Anak Agung Gede Yuniartha Putra, as quoted by online media reports here, told Bernama.

According to the Indonesian Transportation Ministry, flights arriving and departing from Bali currently remained as scheduled.

Following an eruption on Mount Agung on Nov 21, which emitted grey smoke as high as 600 metres, the National Agency for Disaster Management had issued a warning for those staying near the area, climbers, visitors and tourists to not be in the Danger Estimate Zone or carry out activities there.

The Danger Estimate Zone covers areas within a radius of six kilometres from the crater of Mount Agung.
