Christchurch Shooting: Indonesian Confirmed Killed

JAKARTA: An Indonesian man was confirmed as one of 49 people killed in the mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Friday.

The Indonesian embassy in Wellington identified the victim as Muhammad Abdul Hamid @ Lilik Abdul Hamid, the Antara news agency reported.

Muhammad Abdul Hamid had earlier been reported as “missing” following the terrorist attack.

According to Indonesia’s ambassador to New Zealand, Tantowi Yahya, seven Indonesians were at the two mosques when the shootings took place.

“One was shot dead, four were rescued, while two more were injured and are being treated at Christchurch Public Hospital,” he said, Bernama reported, told NST.

There are 330 Indonesians living in Christchurch – 130 of them students, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry stated today.
