PUTRAJAYA: The generation X and Y must collaborate as the nation faces various issues and challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the new generations must unite and not let the colonisation of mind empower them.

“The developing countries are facing new colonialism (colonisation of mind) and Malaysia is no exception.

“Malaysians, especially the youngsters must practice unity in diversity.

The spirit of patriotism can unite people of different races and faiths.

“One of the ways to strengthen unity among Malaysians is to practice assimilation.” he said at the Kembara Kasih Merdeka 2015 closing ceremony at Dataran Putrajaya, today.

Ahmad Zahid also urged the ministries to organise more programmes that can unite the people as what was being done by the Transport Ministry via the Kembara Kasih Merdeka 2015 programme.

“The Transport Ministry should organise this event again in the next year’s Merdeka celebration and we hope to see more participation from bikers associations.

“The government will help funding the programme.” he said. Also present at the event was Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
