A man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle as he was crossing the North-South Expressway

IPOH , Oct 31 (Bernama) — A man died after he was knocked down by a vehicle as he was crossing the North-South Expressway near the Simpang Pulai rest area early today, police said.

Ipoh Traffic Police chief DSP Mohd Rodzi Rejab said Sardhol Singh a/l Jawinder Singh, 28, of Taman Seri Rapat here died on the spot after he was knocked down at about 4am by a four-wheel-drive vehicle heading to Kuala Lumpur.

The driver of the vehicle, in a police report on the incident, had said he realised he had knocked into something upon hearing a loud noise as it was dark at that time, he said.

Meanwhile, Ipoh Traffic Police issued 84 summonses for various traffic offences to motorists and motorcyclists in an operation codenamed “Samseng” conducted from midnight to 5am today along Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah and Jalan Silibin.

Rodzi said the police also seized 31 motorcycles and detained their riders, aged between 15 and 30, for questioning before releasing them on police bond.
