Perak mulls state-wide public transportation system

SUNGAI SIPUT , Oct 11 – The state economic planning unit is looking into the possibility of introducing new transportation system connecting all districts in the state, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said.

“We want to change the mindset of the people and start using public transportation.

“The problem now is that the existing public transportation system does not cover all villages or districts,” he told reporters after launching the Kumpulan Bas Perak (KBP) Sdn Bhd here today.

Dr Zambry said the new module would be introduced in Manjung and Kerian for a start.

In line with the effort to make Perak a developed state, the state government would also implement various programmes to improve the state’s transportation system, he added.

“One of them is to set up the Ipoh Integrated Terminal. This is in line with the objectives of the National Key Result Areas to provide good transportation system to the people,” he said. – Bernama
