The Perak State Government will be heading better and more effective trade missions in future with the formation of a new economic consultative committee.

The Joint Commerce and Industrial Consultative Committee headed by the Perak State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), brings together all the state’s main economic NGOs including the Malay, Chinese, and Indian commerce chambers, FMM Perak, MICCI Perak, and other relevant organisation.

State Executive Councillor for Entrepreneur Development Datuk Hamidah Osman who told this to reporters at her office today added that the first assignment of the committee will be to on a trade mission to Singapore from November 9 to 11 where it will be meeting with the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMA).

She said the committee provides the right platform for the business and industrial sectors in the state for carrying out trade missions as well offer its members an avenue for effective communication.

According to Hamidah, the trade mission to Singapore was in reciprocation to an SMA visit to Perak on November 22 last year.

She will be heading a team of 18 from seven business organisations during the trip, which is expected to garner some good business dealings and investments for the state.

Hamidah who is also Perak Tourism Exco will then continue the trade mission by participating in the Fascinating Malaysia Travel Fair from November 12 to 14 at the Suntec City Mall Entertainment Centre Atrium in Singapore.

Perak is actively promoting itself at the fair with 10 booths taken by participants who are main tourism players in the state such as Pangkor Island Beach Resort, Nomad Adventure, and Belum RainForest Resort.

During the occasion, Hamidah will also launch the Ipoh Heritage Trail Map 2.

The map is produced by Kinta Heritage Group Sdn Bhd,  and is partly sponsored by the Perak State Government.

It  provides a brief history of the city from 1873 to 1941 and information alongside photos of 24 heritage buildings.
