TANAH MERAH, Oct 27 – The Kelantan state government should treat seriously the censures highlighted in the Auditor-General’s Report 2012 for projects implemented, and immediately give clarifications to the public.

Kelantan Umno Liaison chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the people had the right to seek clarification because the funds used in implementing the projects came from the public.

“We have not received convincing clarification from the state government. The people of Kelantan have the right to ask for an explanation on what happened to the projects which did not yield commensurate return on the substantial investments made,” he told reporters at the Aidiladha Open House at his residence, here today.

Mustapa said the projects censured by the Auditor-General included the people’s farm project, the Sungai Kelantan development and beautification project, and Kelantan Biotech Corporation Sdn Bhd.

“We hope the state government will not treat the Auditor-General’s Report lightly. We must be fair where praise is given for positive action taken while acknowledging our weaknesses and addressing them,” he said.
