Health Ministry assures public supplies of masks sufficient

PUTRAJAYA: More Malaysians are getting masked up to protect themselves from the worsening haze in the Peninsula.

Many stores have also put up notices indicating that they had run out of stock of surgical masks.

However, the Health Ministry has assured the public that their supplies of masks are enough for those who need it.

Its director general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said despite pharmacies and stores running out of supplies, government hospitals and clinics would be able to provide these masks to patients and non patients.

“The hospitals and clinics are giving it for free and we have also distributed these masks in areas which have recorded high air pollutant index readings such as districts in Johor and Malacca,” he said today.
