SHAH ALAM: A 35-year-old unemployed man lost his composure at a Sessions Court here and rambled in a nonsensical manner after he was charged with raping his niece.

DPP Salwa Asmary Abdul Rahim told the court that the prosecution did not intend to offer bail as the accused was related to the victim.

“Why aren’t you listening to me, Your Honour?” yelled the unrepresented suspect halfway through his mitigation on the bail issue.

Four policemen tried to calm him down and told him to keep quiet.

“I can’t keep quiet! That family is out to get me. She (the victim) is mentally disabled, how can you listen to her?” said the man accused of raping the 16-year-old victim in a hotel room here between March 17 and 18.

“Be gentle with me, for I am a gentleman. I did not rape anyone’s daughter. I have a 13-year-old daughter of my own.”

He then ranted how Red Ultraman (a Japanese TV character popular here in the 1970s) can “lose his temper when the sun is at its highest”.

“Nanti saya pakai topi Ultraman (I will wear the Ultraman headgear),” he said.

Judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar ordered the accused to be sent for psychiatric evaluation and fixed Sept 30 for mention of the case.
