PAS to postpone hudud bill

hudud
PETALING JAYA: PAS postpones Private Member’s Bill enabling implementation of hudud law in Kelantan after formation of joint technical committee on the issue.

PAS’s president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic) said this in a press statement on Sunday that was read out by deputy president Mat Sabu.

“Because of the formation, the proposed move to table the Private Member’s Bill in parliament will not be continued. This gives the technical committee some space to go through the proposal and take further action,” said the press statement.

The MCA has voiced its strong objection to the bill and has set up a powerful legal team to tackle its proposed tabling.

The Kelantan PAS government’s plan to table the motion also raised tensions within Pakatan Rakyat as it has always been a source of contention between its component parties.
