KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said although saddened by various allegations made against her, she will continue doing charity work even if the facts are distorted by irresponsible quarters.

The prime minister’s wife said she would always be by her husband, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s, side in reaching out and helping people.

“Although saddened by such allegations, I will not overreact, give up or give in to their words,” she said at the presentation of the Wanita Umno Nadi Negara Award 2013 and launch of Wanita Umno Nadi Negara Alumni here yesterday.

In her speech, Rosmah also advised the public, especially university students, to wisely process the information they obtained from the Internet and not to simply believe it without doing some checks and research.

“If you act recklessly and help spread lies everywhere, you should know that you are destroying your own future and gambling on the future of our country.

“I heard today’s students hardly read (mainstream) newspapers, claiming that the newspapers are biased.

“Read. We have to know the right thing (from mainstream media).”

She later presented the Special Nadi Negara Award 2013 to Noor Liyana Nouxman from University of Auckland, New Zealand, and Mohd Hafiz Ariffin of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, while 35 other students received the Nadi Negara Award.

The award was introduced in 2009 to inspire university students to become future leaders. Bernama
