GEMAS: A Nepalese worker nearly died after a 1.5 metres long piece of wood pierced his forehead while he was cutting wood at a wood factory here at 8.51am today.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Kamaruddin Salleh from the Gemas Fire and Rescue Department said they had to cut the wood using a special cutter.
“We took seven minutes to cut the wood as we needed to minimise his pain and reduce the chances of further injuring the victim,” he said.
A medical assistant from the Gemas Health Clinic had also helped in the cutting procedure.
The 30-year-old victim was later rushed to the Segamat Hospital for an operation to remove the remaining piece of wood.
