End of the road for highway bully

PETALING JAYA: After images of a road bully spitting on the windscreen of a woman’s car and damaging it have gone viral on social media, a 58-year-old man has been arrested.

He was detained at his house in Subang Jaya, several hours after the victim lodged a report against him on Monday.

The victim, who was on the Subang Jaya USJ-Shah Alam stretch to get to work in the morning, said the assault came after she honked at the man for repeatedly switching lanes.

The man apparently became angry and stopped his vehicle in the middle of the inner lane.

He then casually walked to the victim’s car, drew his face close to the windscreen and showed his tongue at the driver before spitting.

Not satisfied, he then broke the wiper and damaged the side mirror.

As he did this, the woman captured his rage on her smartphone.

The victim shared 15 images on her Facebook page and gave an account of the suspect’s acts, which sparked furious reactions from netizens.

At press time, the post had garnered more than 5,300 shares with over 1,200 comments condemning the suspect’s intimidation.

They urged the woman to lodge a report.

Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Tan Ah Chua told The Star that the suspect was picked up early yesterday morning. He will be remanded until tomorrow.

“He is facilitating our investigations,” said Supt Tan.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 and 506 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, damages and criminal intimidation.-thestar
