Rafizi challenges Ahmad Maslan to attend 1MDB forum

KUALA LUMPUR: Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli has challenged Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan to attend a forum on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Responding to Ahmad, who had on Monday denied that he would be attending any such forums as advertised on social media, Rafizi said that the public deserved to know the financial status of the Government investment arm.

“The deputy minister has said that he was brave as he had nothing to hide (berani kerana benar). Fair enough.

“Then, he should come to the forum to explain to the public,” Rafizi said, Tuesday.

He added that the deputy minister had the whole ministry and 1MDB at his disposal and should be able to explain the issue.

“Tony Pua and I only have questions, we do not know the details of the company’s financial situation. The deputy minister should be there to give the explanations,” he said.

On Monday, Ahmad denied that he or 1MDB chief executive Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman will be attending a forum titled “1MDB: Malaysia in Debt,”
The forum, organised by the National Oversight and Whistleblowers (NOW), is scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Bukit Utama, Bandar Utama.
