GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian tour guide was today sent to the gallows by the High Court here for trafficking 1.67kg of methamphetamine last year.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Datuk Nordin Hassan, in finding Yunita, 33, guilty, ruled that the defence had failed to cast reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case, and that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Yunita, who hails from Jakarta, had been accused of committing the offence at the arrival hall of the Penang International Airport, about 9.30pm on July 9 last year.

?Yunita was represented by Choong Kak Sen, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Hazril Harun prosecuted.

Choong said they would be appealing the court’s decision.
