KUALA LUMPUR: Contamination at Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant has forced unscheduled water disruption to Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

Checks showed the water contained ammonia and manganese above permissible levels.

In a statement, by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS) said that Syarikat Konsortium ABASS Sdn Bhd (ABASS) which manage the water treatment plant, had to reduce the output from 8am yesterday.

Syabas said, ABASS and Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) were still trying to identify the source of contamination.

Syabas will send tankers and static tanks to affected areas during the disruption.

Consumers will be able to check any updates on the water disruption on Syabas’ Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Latest updates: Disruption at Hulu Selangor affected areas: Kuala Kubu Baru, Hospital Kuala Kubu Baru and Kg Baru China Kuang. Estimate Recovery: 3pm by stages.
