Nepal quake: Malaysian man missing, sister worried

KUALA LUMPUR: The sister of a local award-wining DJ has not heard anything from her brother since a devastating earthquake hit Nepal and is worried that he may be stranded there.

Sarah Brandt-Anthony, 43, said that she last heard from her brother Raj Anthony, 37 (pic), also known as DJ Headmasta, via an April 19 Facebook post.

“He is currently on a six month trip travelling with a group of friends to India, Nepal and various other places and his last post indicated that he would be trekking in the Himalayas from April 21st to April 28th,” said Brandt-Anthony when speaking to The Star from Canada.

Sarah added that she had tried contacting the Malaysian Embassy in Nepal to confirm if they were aware that Raj was in Nepal, but had been unable speak to anyone.

She also said the lack of any information was really frustrating.

“He may be stranded somewhere and in need of help,” she said, adding that she managed to contact some of his friends who were travelling with him.

“Unfortunately, Raj decided to travel to Nepal by himself and they parted ways on April 13,” she said.

She added that anyone with information on his whereabouts could contact her via email at [email protected].

The 7.8 magnitude quake had hit the country on Saturday, with more than 2,200 people have been confirmed dead so far.-thestar
