139 graves and 27 trafficking camps found in Perlis

WANG KELIAN: A total of 139 graves spreading in 28 trafficking camps were found here by the police.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said they found the camps on the hilly terrain of the Malaysia-Thailand border on May 11 in the Ops Wawasan Khas.

“We don’t know how many bodies are in the grave but the exhumation works would start today.

“We can’t tell yet if they are the Rohingyas or Bangladeshis.

“We found a highly decomposed body on the ground, believed to have died two weeks ago,” he told a press conference on Monday.

The discovery by the police has proved claims that there were such trafficking camps on Malaysian side, believed to be set up by human trafficking syndicate.

Since May 1, the Thai authorities have found mass graves near the border at Padang Besar with the discovery of 33 bodies believed to be migrants.-thestar
