Plenty of business openings under 1Malaysia, Chinese told

KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese traders have been urged to take part in the business opportunities under the various 1Malaysia programmes.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the initiatives had fewer participation from the Chinese compared to other races.

He urged the Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia (Kojadi) – one of MCA’s two cooperatives – to assist the community following the success of the Sundry Shop Transformation Project (Tukar) and Automotive Workshop Modernisation (Atom) programmes.

“There are many more, such as the 1Malaysia People’s Shop, 1Malaysia People’s Textiles Store and the 1Malaysia People’s Menu that the Chinese can take part in”, he said when opening the 33rd Kojadi annual general meeting on Sunday.

As of last year, the cooperative has helped nearly 2,000 sundry shop operators under Tukar.

On the emergency landing of the Malaysia Airlines flight at Melbourne airport on Friday, Liow, who is Transport Minister, said the move was carried out due to safety concerns.

Flight MH148 bound for here turned back shortly after taking off from Melbourne due to engine fire. All crew and passengers were safe.-thestar
