Late Marco Battistotti’s Facebook page memorialised

GEORGE TOWN: Late hotelier extraordinaire Marco G. Battistotti’s Facebook page has been memorialised.

Memorialising a Facebook page means the page would no longer appear in birthday reminders, searches or the ‘People You may Know’ section.

It also bars anyone from logging into the deceased’s account to make changes or add any content.

The application to memorialise the account was made by the New Straits Times, following the death of the hotel extraordinaire on Saturday.

A Facebook community operations executive approved the request on Tuesday. The word ‘Remembering…’ appears next to his name on Facebook.

Existing friends will be able to see what Battistotti had shared with them before his passing.

The rest would only be able to see his public posts.

The German national was killed after he was believed to have lost control of his Vespa scooter at the North-South Expressway near Alor Gajah, Malacca. Battitstotti crashed his bike into the median and landed on the fast lane.

He was then run over by other vehicles in poor weather.

The 48-year-old was the vice president of operations at Ri-yaz Hotel and Resort in Kuala Lumpur.
