10-0: Netizens rage over Malaysia’s drubbing to UAE

KUALA LUMPUR: Local football fans are furious over the national team’s 10-0 loss to the United Arab Emirates last night in a World Cup qualifier that saw three goalkeepers used and the national team defeated in every sense of the word.

Actor Hans Isaac expressed his concern on Instagram with a comment aimed at Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“We want to support Negaraku Malaysia…But how lah like this, kalah 10-0 (but how can this be, losing 10-0)? @khairykj time to put your foot down bro.

#fitmalaysia needs a fit football team too,” he said, captioning a picture of the scoreline.

Twitter user @TheMereds tweeted during the game, and called for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to be disbanded.

“If MAS loses 10-0, @FAM_Malaysia must be disbanded immediately. Our gameplay is an embarrassment. We should hire a World Cup coach and change our gameplay,” he said.

On Facebook, the HarimauMalaya page, usually filled with enthusiastic posts and messages to the national team, is today filled with comments from angered fans, all in disbelief that the Harimau Malaya team could suffer such a defeat.

“I could accept it if Harimau Malaya lost 1-0 or 2-0, but 10-0 is an embarrassment,” Nua Nua FC posted.

Muhammad Alif pointed the blame at coach Dollah Salleh’s lack of courage to experiment with different players in the national squad.

“We keep using the same players, not brave enough to make changes in the squad,” he said. Dollah’s name was repeatedly mentioned, with many calling for his resignation in addition to the reshuffling of FAM.

“It is high time that Dollah and his players are reshuffled altogether, this includes FAM. We are bored, disappointed and angry with the national team. We are losing interest in watching them play,” said Zainal Nan. “Today is history.

Before this when we played Palestine, I managed to watch the game live and we lost 6-0. Now with Malaysia vs UAE, I did not have the chance to watch live but we lost by an even bigger margin, 10-0.

“The supporters had in the past suggested hiring a foreign coach to replace DS (Dollah Salleh) and also naturalised players for the short term, but FAM was arrogant and conceited! They did not want to listen to us supporters but they believed in coach Dollah!

This is the result of that! Once again, we the loyal supporters of Malaysian football plead all exco members, highest officers and FAM coaches to step down honourably!” said Mohd Akram.

Another user, Mat Ganu’s message was short but brutally honest. “I am very ashamed to be a fan of Malaysian football,” he posted.
