ALOR STAR: Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir today announced his resignation as Kedah Menteri Besar.

At a press conference in Wisma Darulaman this morning, Mukhriz said he was stepping down as the MB in order to bring an end to the state’s leadership crisis.

Addressing a packed hall, Mukhriz, maintained that he was not forced into resigning.

“I am stepping down as the MB to prevent the current crisis from prolonging.

“I was never asked to resign, nor did I receive any letter of resignation to sign” he said.

Mukhriz said he would not be giving up politics and would still continue to serve the Ayer Hitam constituency.-NST
