Boy claims he was kidnapped to avoid mum’s nagging

SUNGAI PETANI: The case of an attempted kidnapping of a Form One student outside his school, here, on March 1, which went viral on the social media, turned out to be a false claim by the “victim’ to avoid his mum’s scolding for being errant.

Kuala Muda district police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said following the police report lodged by the boy’s family, police investigated the case including recording statements from all the individuals concerned.

“During the investigation, the complainant (boy) said the attempted kidnapping did not exist but the story was deliberately created by him.

“The motive was he was afraid of being scolded by his mother who was late in fetching him from school on that day, so he decided to walk home alone which is about 500 metres from the school,” he told Bernama, here, today.

He said when the mother got home, she saw that her son was tired, sweating and crying.

“When she questioned him, the boy told her the fictitious story of two men on a motorcycle trying to kidnap him about 1.40 pm on March 1 while waiting for her outside the school.

“The boy claimed that he struggled and managed to free himself from the two men and ran home.” Md Zukir said the case which was earlier investigated under Section 363/511 of the Penal Code could now come under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making a false police report.

“However, the complainant in this case is a 13-year-old student and police will suggest to the deputy public prosecutor not to proceed with the case,” he said. –Bernama
