Penambang jetty to be redeveloped

SEPANG: The Selangor state government has agreed in principal to redevelop the Penambang Jetty with a new design concept and parking facilities for the locals travelling from Selangor to Negri Sembilan daily.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said Sepang Municipal Council would have to submit their proposal as soon as possible to the state to get the plans moving.

“It is too early to determine the cost because we have to look at the design but the present dire condition of the jetty needs to be redeveloped for the benefit of the people.

“This jetty is very important for the people in and around Sepang, who use it as part of their daily lives, so we want to add more facilities and give them more comfort,” he said.

Earlier Azmin and state executive councilors took a half day cruise along Sungai Sepang Besar to check on the cleanliness of rivers, mangroves and the jetties followed by a three-day retreat.

On the issue of Pas’ plans to form a new opposition pact, Azmin said in a democratic system they (Pas) can form any pact, as it is the party’s right but it would still depend on the acceptance of the people.

On whether it will affect the state government, Azmin said that it will not as they were in a stable place and more focused on carrying out the mandate promised to the people.

“Politics should only be carried out once every five years…it becomes tiring if there is politicking every day,” he said.-nst
