National golfer injured after high-powered motorcycle crashes

KUALA LUMPUR: National golfer Shaaban Hussin (pix), 36, was involved in an accident while heading to Shah Alam from Kota Damansara on Thursday morning.

His younger brother Muhammad Akhir Hussin said Shaaban, who was riding a high-powered motorcycle, skidded when avoiding a car parked by the Guthrie Highway.

The 2016 PGM Sime Darby Harvard Championship winner was rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital before being transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further treatment after sustaining serious injuries, including a broken left leg and hand.

Shaaban was believed to be heading to the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam to undergo training in preparation for the PGM Darul Aman Golf Championship in Kedah next week.

His best achievement this season was fifth place at the PGM CCM Rahman Putra Golf Championship at the Rahman Putra Club, Sungai Buloh. – Bernama
