Adenan to announce new Sarawak cabinet line-up today

KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem is scheduled to announce the new line-up for the state cabinet today.

According to an advisory from the state informantion department, Adenan is expected to make the announcement followed by a swearing-in ceremony for the ministers at the State Legislative Assembly building in Petra Jaya at 3pm.

The ministers will be sworn in before Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud.

It has been rumoured that the new state cabinet would include the appointment of three deputy chief ministers.

Those tipped to fill in the three posts as Adenan’s deputies included Bukit Saban assemblyman and outgoing Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas as well as two assemblymen, who were formerly senior ministers in the previous state cabinet, namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Abang Johari Openg and Parti Rakyat Sarawak president Tan Sri James Jemut Masing.

Abang Johari was previously the state housing and tourism minister while Masing was the minister in-charge of land development affairs in Sarawak.-nst
