Najib: Too early for Cabinet reshuffle

LONDON: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said it was too early to think about restructuring the Cabinet.

“I have not thought about it,” he said when asked by reporters here whether there would be a major reshuffle.

“But the Plantations Industries and Commodities Ministry would have to be restructured from the Secretary-General level,” he said.

Asked about cabinet ministers who have completed their senatorship, he said: “We will cross the bridge when we come to it.

In his NajibRazak.com blog entry on Saturday, Najib had said he would restructure his cabinet soon following the resignation of Plantations, Industries and Commodities minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and the death of his deputy Datuk Noriah Kasnon.

Douglas Uggah Embas resigned after he was appointed the Sarawak deputy chief minister while Noriah was killed when the helicopter she was in crashed in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.

Also killed were her husband Asmuni Abdullah, the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad and Noriah’s bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun.
