Foreign Ministry: No M’sians affected by Zurich attack

PUTRAJAYA: The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Malaysians were affected by the attack on an Islamic centre at Eisgasse 6, near Zurich’s central train station in Switzerland.

The shooting, reportedly perpetrated by an unknown assailant, has left three people injured, two of whom are in grave condition.

The ministry extended its sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims of the incident.

“The Malaysian Embassy in Berne is in close contact with local authorities and has provided timely updates to the Malaysian community in the city on the incident,” it said in a statement today.

Local police found a body approximately 500m from the centre, with the identity and circumstances of death still being ascertained by relevant authorities.

It remains unclear whether the body is related to the shooting at the Islamic Centre.-nst
