LANGKAWI: Kedah police is set to launch a state-wide ‘Jihad Against Drugs’ campaign next month to weed out drug abuse at its root.

State police chief Datuk Asri Yusoff said among the key initiatives under the campaign is the distribution of a VCD (video compact disc) containing a documentary highlighting the danger of drug abuse.

“The documentary is being produced by the state Narcotics Investigation Department and it would be completed by end of this month.

“We will distribute the VCD through a door-to-door campaign which we believe is more effective,” he told reporters after launching the ‘Jihad Against Drugs’ gotong-royong at Kampung Bukit Malut here today.

Also present were the state’s Narcotics Investigation Department chief Superintendent Helmi Aris and Langkawi police chief Superintendent Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang.-nst
