Malaysia’s Transport and Logistics Sector Sees Strong Progress – Liow

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s transport and logistics sector is seeing strong progress, particularly with the successful launch of Phase One of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said inter-city rail projects such as Klang Valley Double Track Project, East Coast Rail Line and Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail will lead to enhanced connectivity which will result in greater opportunities for local businessess.

“Under the wisdom and leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, we drove foreign investment, particularly from China and Japan.

“This foresight to draw greater investment into Malaysia will help unlock the inherent potential in our economy,” Liow said in his new year message.

Work on the national logistics database and improved road freight transport productivity under Phase One of the Logistics Trade Masterplan has also been completed.

“This will reflect on the long term goal for transforming Malaysia into a competitive regional logistics hub in ASEAN.

“These successes are a reflection of a responsible government, working to serve the people,” said Liow.
