Man, 66, killed as car crashes into palm tree near Simpang Pulai

IPOH: A senior citizen was killed in an accident after the car he was travelling in skidded and crashed into a palm tree at Jalan Simpang Pulai-Changkat Larang, near Simpang Pulai, here last night.

In the 11.30pm incident, the victim, identified as P. Kerishnan, 66, who was pinned to his Proton Saga seat, died on the spot in the collision.

Operation chief from the Simpang Pulai fire station Abdul Hadi Abdullah said the the department received a distress call at 11.45pm and immediately despatched a team to the location.

“Upon arrival, we found the victim pinned to his seat and pronounced dead by a medical team.

“Firemen had to use special tools to help extricate the remains from the seat. The body was removed in half an hour,” he said.

The operation ended at 1.13am and the body handed over to the police for further action. “It was learnt that Kerishnan’s remains has been sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for post-mortem,” he said.
