ALOR STAR: Kota Star police are looking for a couple from Pokok Sena to facilitate investigations into a car sales scam.

Its deputy chief Superintendant Rohana Omar said the couple identified as Mohd Hafiz Alias Kassim, 33, and Syaidatul Nadia Yaacob, 29, are being sought after to assist investigations into three police reports lodged in the district since late November last year with accumulated losses of RM11,300.

“Initial investigation revealed that the scam operators had convinced the victims to invest in the scheme by promising them lucrative returns.

“However once the payment was made, the scam operators would go missing and are unreachable.

“So far we have received reports from three victims in Alor Star, two of whom are women,” said Rohana.

She added the case has been classified under Section 420 of the Penal Code for fraud.

Yesterday, New Straits Times reported that Kedah police had confirmed a vehicle trading investment scheme in the state, offered by a couple in Pokok Sena was a scam.

The couple had allegedly cheated more than 20 victims through this scam.
