Sports legend Watson Nyambek campaigns for Jamilah in Tanjong Datu

LUNDU: The Barisan Nasional (BN) campaign for the Tanjong Datu state seat by-election received a boost from former national sprinter, Watson Nyambek.

Sporting legend Watson, 40, joined State BN Backbenchers Club chairman Abdullah Saidol during a campaign at the Lundu waterfront here today.

The local hero was clad in a sweater vest previously worn by the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem, when he last appeared at the venue.

“I had earlier met Puan Sri Jamilah Anu (BN’s candidate for the by-election) at her house in Santubong, to seek her blessing. “She gave me this vest, belonging to her late husband, as a gift.

“She told me that the former chief minister had worn the vest regularly. He also wore the vest when he tabled the State Budget last year,” Watson told reporters.

Joining Watson on the campaign trail was his wife, Fellizia Michael.

Watson said he was called to join the campaign to ensure that Adenan’s legacy lived on.

“He had helped my family and me in many ways, and I am here to return the favour,” he added.
