Vastly reduced police presence at KL Hospital following quashing of Han-sol rumours

KUALA LUMPUR: Police presence at the National Forensic Medicine Institute at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH), where Kim Jong-nam’s body is being kept, has been noticeably reduced today, compared to previous days.

Observations showed that at 11.30am, only one police patrol vehicle and a van were seen inside the compound.

This was in stark comparison to yesterday, when members of police’s elite Special Task Force on Organised Crime (STAFOC) team were seen patrolling the premises.

Security at the hospital had intensified over the last two days, following speculation that Jong-nam’s son, Kim Han-sol, had arrived in Malaysia from Macau.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today refuted rumours on Han-sol’s arrival, and said none of Jong-nam’s next-of-kin have identified the body.

Nevertheless, around 50 members of the local and foreign press are still camping outside the hospital today, hoping to get more information on developments.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam had previously said that the autopsy report could be released “as early as Wednesday.”

Malaysian authorities had also ruled out the possibility that Jong-nam had died of a heart attack, based on post-mortem results.-nst
